What’s normal for a breastfeeding baby, mom, family? How would a modern mama know?

Historically, girls learned about nursing by observing their neighbors and aunties, receiving feminine wisdom they would use as they themselves became mothers. In modern Western society, the traditional village has been lost, and many women begin motherhood in relative isolation.

Our support groups re-create the support and sisterhood of the past. In circle, women learn that their thoughts, feelings and concerns are shared by others, and learn more about breastfeeding and mothering. In group, we share wisdom about infant feeding, calming, soothing, attachment, sleeping, and baby-wearing. We share about pumping and returning to work. We share some tears and lots of laughter!

Research, and our own experience, have shown that mothers with breastfeeding support breastfeed longer and enjoy their breastfeeding experience more than their peers who do not come to group support.

Mothers Guild groups are non-judgmental and we encourage each mother to find HER way with each baby. Our groups include those exclusively breastfeeding, learning to breastfeed, pumping, partially formula feeding and pumped breast milk feeding, as well as formula feeding moms who have questions about breastfeeding, latching, building milk supply and more.

You will be met with kindness, support and expertise by our group facilitator, Renee Mandala, lactation counselor and educator, and doula, and the moms in our breastfeeding circle. We laugh, share empathy and maybe shed a couple of tears as we are nurtured into motherhood.

Bring your baby, your questions and get support through the early days of nursing, or just when questions arise. Infant scale available.

Need a nursing bra and tank, pump, pump parts or baby carrier? Make an appointment and we will hook you up! We carry only highly reputable products and provide personal instructions for use on each of our products.

Did you know? Depression is the number one risk of childbearing.

For women and families affected by emotional changes related to pregnancy and parenting: Our goal is to create a safe and welcoming place to reduce isolation, encourage peer support and sharing, and provide practical info and resources. This peer support group is not a therapy group; families will be provided resources for assessment, counseling and therapeutic support as desired.

Lap babies and dads and other supporters welcome.
